I know he’s busy planing his victory parade and having *ahem* talks with errant Senators, but this is all Obama could muster?
“This isn’t the Tony Rezko I knew.”
That’s it? I thought this guy was supposed to have a way with words. Or maybe he’s waiting for this to become an out-of-control issue that requires him to disavow Rezko. That seems to be his MO in dealing with messy scandals. Let’s give it a few days and see what he says then.
UPDATE – Here is an expanded version of what Obama said.
“I’m saddened by today’s verdict. This isn’t the Tony Rezko I knew, but now he has been convicted by a jury on multiple charges that once again shine a spotlight on the need for reform. I encourage the General Assembly to take whatever steps are necessary to prevent these kinds of abuses in the future.”
Man, he sure is working that “I’m saddened and didn’t know anything” line isn’t he? Guess he figures since it’s worked so far…..
