So Much For The Catholic Church Getting Rid Of Pfleger

It looks like that suspension won’t become permanent after all. Pfleger is set to resume his duties on June 16. His parishioners couldn’t be happier.

The announcement that Pfleger would come back in about a week eased the minds of many parishioners, some of whom were worried that, despite the cardinal’s comments, the priest had finally gone too far.

He was forced to miss a wedding Saturday that he was set to officiate, so another couple with a June 28 wedding date was especially relieved to learn that Pfleger would be back for their big day.

But most simply said they were looking forward to St. Sabina returning to normal under the leadership of the priest who has come to embody the church.

“He’s a black Jesus stuck in a white man’s body,” said Oralee Williams, 48. “He’s the best.”

Good grief.

PS – I’m beginning to think the Catholic Church likes being in the center of scandals. It’s, like, their way of getting attention and stuff.
