Or at the very least, they think you’ve never applied for and received a mortgage. Conrad is working the “I didn’t know” angle, even though he called up Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozilo himself and asked for the loan. Don’t worry though, Conrad plans to make it all A-OK again by getting his house refinanced and donating money to Habitat for Humanity. Heh.
Dodd, on the other hand, is still playing the “well I never!” angle:
”As a United States senator, I would never ask or expect to be treated differently than anyone else refinancing their home,” Dodd said Friday afternoon in a statement e-mailed to reporters. “This suggestion is outrageous and contrary to my entire career in public service.
”When my wife and I refinanced our loans in 2003, we did not seek or expect any favorable treatment. Just like millions of other Americans, we shopped around and received competitive rates.”
Yes Dodd, you received a very competitive rate. Mainly because you’re Chris Dodd.
It’s nice to know that the people you elect think you’re a total dumbass.
