After seeing the advance copy of Obama’s coronation speech, I decided to skip watching it last night. Judging from what I read there, I had already heard the speech before and I wasn’t really interested in hearing it again. So I get up and take a look at the Internets this morning to see if I was right, and while I know it’s early, I’m not seeing a lot of chatter about the speech. That’s my first clue. I find a few people who have already posted their thoughts on the speech, and it gives me my second clue. And then the slew of emails asking for money begins.
I was right; this speech was a snoozefest designed to give Obamamaniacs thrills up their legs, nothing more. It wasn’t grand prose, and it didn’t inspire anyone who wasn’t already inspired by Obama. JKF he ain’t. If you’re so inclined, here’s the text of Obama’s speech. It’s nothing he hasn’t said before.
Now on to stalking McCain’s potential VP picks.
UPDATE – Turns out I’m not the only one who came to this conclusion. Either Team Obama didn’t get what the purpose of an acceptance speech is, or they knew and just didn’t bother to try.

Well his speech did do one thing; it separated Obama from the Green Liberals. His promise to increase the use of both “clean” coal and nuclear power put him right out of their camp.
