Just when you think it can’t get any sleazier, it does. The funny thing is that there really isn’t anything of interest in Sarah’s email. Just, you know, typical hockey mom stuff. Apparently this irked Gawker to no end, since they decided to make it a story by publishing Palin’s address book and any private phone numbers they ran across in her emails.
I would have hoped that someone in their legal department would have informed them that posting someone’s private info in a public forum without their consent is illegal. Like, federal crime illegal. Whoops. Gawker should stick to reporting who Lindsey Lohan is screwing and leave the important conversations to adults.
PS - Gee, I wonder what Gawker would sat if someone hacked into, oh I don’t know, Joe Biden’s email…..
UPDATE - Team McCain (and Bill O’Rellly) have called in the Feds and the Secret Service to investigate. Thus far the AP is refusing to cooperate with the Secret Service, not a wise move in my opinion. No word yet on if the MIBs have paid Nick Denton a visit or not, I would assume he’s high on the list. I sure wouldn’t want to be him today…..
Michelle Malkin got an email from one of 4chan’s denizens explaining how it all went down. Reading the account reminded me of a story I read about a week ago lamenting that the typical “lost password” questions were easly answerable if your person you’re looking to hack is famous or has any sort of info on the Internet, and it soulds like that’s how someone got access to Palin’s account. Someone needs to get to work making better questions.
